Modelling the physiological networks underlying the embodied conscious experience.

Short bio

Diego Candia-Rivera is an Electrical Engineer and Biotechnologist from the University of Chile. He obtained his Ph.D. in Information Engineering from the University of Pisa. His research interest is the study of brain-heart interactions to understand their role in cognition and consciousness. He uncovered that brain-heart interactions reflect the presence and levels of consciousness in patients with severe brain damage. The publication associated with this result was awarded by the Society for Neuroscience in 2022.
