Title: Healing the infosphere: A mathematical formulation for breaking the echo chambers

Summary: The aim of the project is to create a mathematical framework able to describe the phenomenons of the online opinion ecosystem. Our model involves agents with opinions and we show how a new type of agents with a different update rule can trigger a phase transition from a polarised state to a state of free exploration of the opinion space -- breaking the echo chambers. We solved the model analytically providing physics-inspired insights to what forces and mechanisms rule the infosphere and what order parameters control its phase transitions.

Title: Towards a Formal Foundation for Global Optimization

Summary: Formal methods enable us to guarantee the correctness of mathematical results. Today, they are increasingly used in applied mathematics, particularly in machine learning. I will provide a brief introduction to Lean, a very popular proof assistant, and present recent work aimed at building a formal foundation for global optimization. This foundation opens up possibilities for mechanized verification and integration with emerging tools such as language models.
