Quartz oscillators have been central to frequency control for decades, providing stability and precision in both ground and space applications. With the increasing demand for ultra-high stability, advanced control science engineering has become essential in the design and optimization of these oscillators. This paper reviews significant progress in control methodologies applied to quartz resonators and oscillators, focusing on temperature compensation, drive-level dependence, and phase noise reduction. We summarize recent contributions in the field and highlight the role of system engineering in enhancing stability performance for critical applications.
