Crack Edge Optimization Based on Image Processing and Ramer Douglas Peucker Algorithm
Publié le - 1st International Conference on Smart Manufacturing, Structural Health Monitoring and Digital Twins (ICSSD 2025)
This article proposes a crack detection and contour simplification method that combines image processing techniques with the Ramer Douglas Peucker (RDP) algorithm. This study achieves accurate crack extraction through adaptive threshold segmentation, morphological processing, and region filtering, and simplifies the crack contour using the RDP algorithm. We designed three evaluation metrics (coordinate point reduction rate, contour length retention rate, and maximum distance error) to quantify the effect of contour simplification. The competitive experimental results show that this approval method can effectively detect cracks and simplify the contour, while maintaining the main geometric features of the cracks. This provides an efficient data representation for subsequent crack analysis.
